Sweet Treats for a Great Cause: Moomers for Meals Returns April 26
Traverse City, MI — Mark your calendars and bring your sweet tooth—Moomers for Meals is back on Saturday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Moomers Homemade Ice Cream (7263 N. Long Lake Rd Traverse City, MI). This one-day community event invites residents and visitors alike to enjoy award-winning ice cream while supporting a vital cause: Meals on Wheels.
Throughout the day, a portion of proceeds from the hot fudge sundae bar will directly benefit Meals on Wheels programs serving local seniors—helping ensure they receive nutritious meals and meaningful human connection. Guests will also have the chance to try this year’s fan-favorite flavor, “Rolling Rainbows,” the official winner of the Moomers for Meals flavor tournament. Created by NMCAA Head Start preschool students with creativity and community spirit in mind, this colorful scoop is as fun as it is delicious—and only available for a limited time.
The event also serves as a kickoff to Older Americans Month, celebrated each May. This year’s theme, Champion Your Health, highlights the importance of empowering older adults to stay active, engaged, and supported. Throughout the month of May, organizers will continue to raise awareness and rally community support for Meals on Wheels—encouraging donations, volunteerism, and advocacy to help ensure no senior is left behind.
“Moomers for Meals is a simple but powerful way to give back,” said Lisa Robitshek, Meals on Wheels Manager. “Every scoop helps support seniors in our community, providing not just meals, but also safety checks and social connection.”
Whether you’re stopping by with family, meeting friends, or just looking for an excuse to enjoy some of Northern Michigan’s best ice cream, your visit will make a meaningful impact.
