Collaborative Centers

Here to Support You

Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency | Collaborative Centers

This partnership represents an initiative between NMCAA and existing child care centers. This collaborative approach blends the supportive services offered to families and children by both parties, lending to a comprehensive system of care to best suit the needs of children and families who are enrolled in existing child care facilities, and are also eligible to receive HS services. NMCAA works closely with the Collaborative Center staff during the identified timeframe to observe, mentor and monitor the implementation of the Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS).  NMCAA staff also work to mentor and support the Head Start enrolled families through a variety of parent driven choices, including but not limited to; trainings, workshops, phone calls, etc.

Collaborative centers work with Early Head Start.

Early Head Start

Our Early Head Start programs focus on creating environments where infants and toddlers can thrive through receiving continuity of care in a year-round service model at a single location. This accomplishes our goals of developing partnerships that provide the educational and comprehensive services of Early Head Start programming to eligible families within existing child care facilities.

Collaborative centers work with Head Start.

Head Start

Dedicated to creating an environment where a preschool-aged child can receive Head Start services and extended care in a single location by developing partnerships that provide the educational and comprehensive services of Head Start programming to eligible families within existing child care facilities. The Collaborative Center Model is defined as a consistent daily Head Start Class schedule operating a minimum of 7 hours per day, 4 days per week (with the exception of holidays when the center closes), over a minimum of 146 days per year and totaling a minimum of 1,020 hours annually.

Community Action through Collaborative Center outreach programs offers educational child care through NMCAA.

Our Commitment to the Programs

To combine the resources, skills, and expertise of NMCAA and an existing state licensed child care sites to provide high quality services through meeting Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) for families and children, specifically during the identified time frame on the attached calendar addendum.
