Food Program

If TCAPS Schools are closed in Traverse City due to the weather, then there are no Meal deliveries in Grand Traverse & Leelanau Counties. If CAPS in Cadillac is closed Wexford and Missaukee counties due to weather, meals will not be delivered. Feel free to give us a call or watch for a post on our social media pages. Homeownership and Financial Empowerment

Yes, we have the Individual Development Account (IDA) matched savings program. Call and for SMS 231-714-4578. Intake for more information. IDA Application.

The Free Tax Preparation program is offered all year now. You can call to find out if you are eligible for the Home Heating Tax Credit. Learn more about our Tax Preparation.

Early Childhood

For the 2019-2020 Program year: We will be taking application appointments for children born within this date range:  9/02/14 – 12/01/16.

Fill out an Interest Form and you will be contacted to begin the application process.

Housing and Energy Efficient Services

The Weatherization Assistance Program is available to home owners and renters in 11 counties (Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee, Roscommon, Wexford). Please fill out a Referral Form to get on the wait list for your county. Call if you have questions.  Learn more about Weatherization.

The Home Repair Program may be able to help make your home more accessible. Homeowners can call to find out if funding is available in your area for wheelchair ramps, or bathroom remodeling. Learn more about our Home Repair Program.

The Home Repair Program is available to home owners who have lived in the home for at least one year and have home-owners insurance. Home owners must also be up-to-date on mortgage payments and/or land contract payments, property taxes, and must also meet income eligibility requirements. 

Depending on your location, the Home Repair Program may be able to help. Home owners can call to see if they might qualify for emergency funding for a roof repair or replacement. Learn more about home repair assistance.

Homeless Prevention Programs

We provide Homebuyer Education and Individual Pre-Purchase Coaching to educate individuals or families on the process of homebuying and obtaining a mortgage. Call and ask for FMS Intake for more information. Learn more about our housing programs. 

If you are an individual or family that is homeless you need to call.  Intake staff will help you with an assessment (with your permission), discuss your housing situation, and provide you with local resources.  If you are not experiencing homelessness at this time intake staff can help direct you to local resources. Learn more about our Homeless Prevention program. 

If you are an individual or family that is currently experiencing homelessness please call. The Intake staff will ask you questions regarding your housing instability and complete an assessment (with your permission).

For those who are not homeless but need help with their current month’s rent, you may access assistance through Department of Health and Human Services, Salvation Army or other local resources. Learn more about Homeless Prevention and how we can help you.

Our Budget/Housing coaches can assist homeowners in applying for assistance to pay for property taxes. Call and ask for FMS Intake for more information.

If you are an individual or family that is homeless you need to call. The Intake Staff will ask you questions regarding your homelessness status.  NMCAA staff helps manage the waiting list for the Housing Choice Voucher with Homeless Preference and does not issue vouchers. Learn more about Homeless Prevention services.

If you are an individual or family that is at risk of losing your housing because you owe back rent you need to call and press #2.  Individuals or families must present an Eviction Notice in order to qualify for assistance. Please call and the Intake staff will help you through this process. Learn more about the Homeless Prevention program. 

If you are a family that is homeless you need to call.  Intake staff will help you with an assessment (With your permission), discuss your housing situation, and provide you with access to the shelter or local resources.  We encourage you to contact family or friends to help you during this time of housing instability. Learn more about the Homeless Prevention program.

If shelter is the only option, the Intake staff will make a referral to the local shelter for your admittance. Please note that admittance is not guaranteed and is ultimately the decision of the local shelter. Learn more about the Homeless Prevention program.
