"We would like to thank everyone who has helped us to achieve our dream of owning a house,
especially NMCCA. Four years and two babies later, after we had been struggling to keep up our
home savings, we finally are doing it. All because of the generosity of a program that
understands that starting a family and a home can be difficult but with the help of a giving
community it is possible." - IDA Graduate

NMCAA Offers Weatherization Programs
As the cold weather approaches, families or individuals who are considered low income can apply for NMCAA’s winterization program.
“We are funded annually by the Department of Energy through a federal fund and the state LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) funding as well,” said NMCAA Housing and Energy Efficiency Services Director Tish Stave. “This year, and for the next five years, we’ll be reviving some additional funds through the department of energy through the bipartisan infrastructure law.”
The program helps lower energy costs, especially during the winter when energy bills are so high.
If approved for the program, NMCAA sends a certified energy auditor to your home, and finds what possible energy savings can be made.

NMCAA Weatherization Program is seeking mechanical contractors!
Are you a Mechanical Contractor? Looking for steady work all year round?
NMCAA’s Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is seeking proposals from mechanical contractors for the purpose of performing work on eligible single-family homes, and smaller multi-family units in Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee, Roscommon, and Wexford Counties.WAP is funded by the Dept. of Energy Weatherization Assistance Program and the DHHS Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The recent federal infrastructure legislation has allocated billions of dollars into the WAP, presenting huge opportunities for contractors to get involved and grow their businesses. Unlike past stimulus funding in this space, an increased national focus on equity, environmental justice, and climate change mitigation indicate that these programs will continue to grow in their size and scope well into the future.
Contractors will be responsible for supplying labor and materials in completing all units in a timely manner, will be in compliance with all applicable building codes, will meet DOE/WAP standards, and will be licensed and insured. Familiarity with ASHRAE 62.2 preferred. Interested contractors should contact tstave@nmcaa.net to request a blank price list and RFP Guidelines.
