Your gift allows NMCAA to offer a wide variety of programs to meet the unique needs of our community, providing your neighbors with the skills and resources necessary to help them overcome barriers and improve their quality of life. Below is a list of our giving areas, including the specific programs within each area.

Our Greatest Need Fund
Donations to NMCAA’s “Our Greatest Need” fund provide our organization with unrestricted dollars that can be directed toward needs not met through other funding sources.

Homeless Prevention Programs
Supportive Services for Veteran Families – The SSVF program serves a 23-county region with Rapid Re-Housing and Prevention assistance to Veterans and their families who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless.
HUD Adult Rapid Re-Housing – Serves adult households (over 25 years old) experiencing chronic homelessness and can include single adults or adults with minor children in the household.
HUD Youth Pregnant and Parenting Rapid Re-Housing – Serves young adults under 25 years old (18-24) who are pregnant or parenting with minor children in the household, and who are experiencing homelessness.
HUD Individual Youth Rapid Re-Housing – Serves single young adults under 25 years old (18-24) without minor children in the household, and who are experiencing homelessness.
MSHDA ESG Rapid Re-Housing – Serves individuals and/or families who are experiencing homelessness or fleeing/attempting to flee domestic violence (DV) (if the individual or family is also literally homeless).
MDHHS Consolidated Rapid Re-Housing – Serves individuals and/or families who are experiencing chronic homelessness.

Meals On Wheels
Home Delivered Meals – Provides home delivered nutritious and delicious meals, compassionate visits, and safety checks to vulnerable seniors in Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Missaukee, and Wexford counties.
Senior Luncheon – Provides active seniors with food and fun at several locations throughout Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Missaukee, and Wexford counties.

Home Repair & Weatherization Programs
Home Repair/ Rehabilitation Programs – Provides home repair for health and safety concerns and universal accessibility for low-income homeowners.
Weatherization Assistance Program – Provides free home improvements designed for energy conservation, decreasing utility costs, and improving health & safety for eligible low-income households.

Early Childhood Programs
Comprehensive school readiness programs that engage parents as equal partners and recognize health, safety, and family well-being as foundational components of child development.
Early Head Start – Home-based or center-based programming, serving expectant families and children ages 0-3.
Head Start -  Classroom-based preschool programming, serving children ages 3-5.

Emergency Needs
Emergency GAP Fund – A fund that allows us to address needs of clients that are roadblocks to self-sufficiency and that cannot be met through other funding sources.
Laundry Project – Provides vouchers for free laundry services at local laundromats for people in need.

Financial Management Services
Budget Coaching - The foundation of all financial empowerment is teaching money management skills to low- and moderate-income families.
Housing Coaching- Ensures first time home buyers successfully purchase their most valuable asset.
Foreclosure Prevention- Provides coaching and advocacy to avoid mortgage or tax foreclosure.
Laundry Project- Help provide FREE laundry services to families in need of clean clothes and linens.
Individual Development Accounts - Matches savings to build assets in homeownership, small business development or higher education to help break the cycle of poverty.
Money Management and Homebuyer Education - Professional guest speakers assist coaches with presenting workshops to educate the general public in these valuable skills.
